Qualification of the graduate is that of a technician.

The period of full-time studies is:

• 2 years and 10 months - on the basis of secondary (full) comprehensive education (11 forms);
• 3 years and 10 months - on the basis of the fundamental comprehensive education (9 forms).

A graduate is capable of carrying out professional activity as a technician in the field of manufacturing special-purpose and mechanical engineering articles at enterprises, research and design organizations of various legal forms of ownership.

The principal kinds of activity for a technician:

• industrial-engineering: implementation of the technological process of the manufacture of special-purpose devices and control of the maintenance of technological discipline in production, control of efficient usage of technological equipment and materials, control of quality conformance of the products to the established standards; conducting standard and certification trials of technical equipment under the supervision of a more qualified specialist; operation of modern technical systems and their maintenance;
• administrational: organizing the activity of a team of executives; planning and organization of production operations; evaluation of the economic efficiency of the production process; acquisition, processing and accumulation (on the basis of up-to-date technical means) of technological, technical, economic and other kinds of information for the realization of engineering and managerial decisions; ensuring labour safety at the production site, etc.;
• design and engineering: development of the technological processes of manufacturing and assembling unsophisticated kinds of the elements for special devices or their parts; designing medium complexity units for the principal and auxiliary production cycles; making the output programme for the design of production tools; carrying out patent search and defining the characteristics of the technological level for the objects of equipment and technologies being designed, under the supervision of a more qualified specialist;
• experimental research: carrying out the activity for testing and introduction of new items of equipment and technological processes under the supervision of a more experienced specialist, i.e. registration in accordance with the prescribed programme of the necessary characteristics and parameters and analysis of the results received.
